Several people reported a whistling sound, consistent with fireworks.
I asked Jim Kosteva if the U of Michigan was setting off a crow cannon, and he said that there wasn’t any of that going on right now.
It’s possible, I guess, that it was associated with something going on at the Stadium Bridge construction project, but nothing matches that.
The final word, from the Lower Burns Park neighborhood list, was that a neighbor saw a fireworks rocket of decent size shoot out over our neighborhood which exploded into a “flower” arrangement at about 6:30 pm as they were walking home from Kroger. We assume that the second sound was from the same source as the first.
