Vivienne,
Don’t leave us hanging. What did she say?
I can’t possibly do it justice but its general gist was to remind us of AATA’s history, importance, and long status as a highly successful city bus system. She was chair of the AATA for many years and the Blake Transit Center is named after her family.
Her basic point was that when the millage was put together its supporters were worried that the City Council would tamper with it, and use the money for other purposes. So it was made a permanent dedicated millage.
Okay, I haven’t listened to the recording yet but what I took away was “Hands off our AATA!”.
“Her basic point was that when the millage was put together its supporters were worried that the City Council would tamper with it, and use the money for other purposes.”
A fear that was valid it appears.
David,
Does the Mrs. have any comment?
