beautiful photo – thanks!
Are you sure that’s a Linden? Looks like a Pear. They are one of the many that are early flowering this year.
I agree, looks like Bradford Pear, which is planted extensively in that area. Looks like lights amid the snow!
Linden versus Pear. Of these, I think the linden is clearly the sexier of the trees. Indeed, I will go so far as to say the linden tree is probably the sexiest tree of all … especially if you ask a writer of medieval German courtly romance poetry. Take these lines from Walther von der Vogelweide, which I’ll translate loosely this way: “Under the linden upon the moor/ that’s where you’ll see, it was our bed/ to tell the spot it was for sure/ look where our sleep smashed flowers dead.” I just dare you, try that with a pear tree.
My peach tree is flowering and looks like that. My pears aren’t yet, but out here in the vicious subarctic wilderness of Scio we may be on a different schedule from more civilized climes.
Well it was dark, so no, I’m not sure. I know there are linden’s around teh corner, so I was making an assumption.
