UM: Innocence Clinic

The Detroit Free Press reports that 54-year-old David Lee Gavitt was released from prison this week after 26 years. Based on work by the University of Michigan Law School’s Michigan Innocence Clinic, prosecutors determined that Gavitt “was convicted with faulty evidence and outdated science,” according to the report. The Ionia man had been convicted of murdering his family in a house fire. [Source]
