    Q for Dave or Mary: What does one do to trigger the pop-up captions of these cartoons on an iPad or similar device, without a mouse pointer to summon them?

    O-ho! Thanks very much for that comment, Cosmonican! I have never tried to trigger any pop-up captions before, because I did not know that there were any to be triggered, and now I do, so now I will! :)
