At a neighborhood public meeting on July 26th, a Beal representative claimed the house would come down “within a couple of weeks.” So why is it still standing?
Re. “Why is it still standing?” Earlier this week I emailed Jerry Hancock, the city’s stormwater and floodplain programs coordinator, to ask about the progress. He said that Beal was still working on getting all the utilities disconnected, and that he expected demolition to start next week.
As of today, I noticed DTE had come and dug in the lawn extension, tagging the building “gas cut.” The house’s electric service drop is also gone—only telephone lines remain.
It’s time to get this project moving. The flakeboard over the house’s back door has been bashed in, leaving the house wide open for anyone to wander into.
