The hawk flew away when I knocked on the door of the house to warn the rabbit’s keepers. The hawk was literally about 3 feet from the rabbit. Maybe they’re best buds, but somehow I doubt it.
So it’s a kept rabbit? Not a wild one?
I’m so glad you scared the hawk away! I think the rabbit’s name is Nutmeg and she (he?) has been there for years.
Nutmeg is a family pet and has a little pen, the door of which is often left open so Nutmeg can roam the yard. I’ve often seen Nutmeg when walking my dog.
I too see the rabbit frequently. Typically twice a day, in fact, on my way to and from work. I’m happy to report I saw him this evening on my way home. So, all is well. :)
