Is this the second water break you’ve identified in one week? Well done Trevor!

I called the city about this water weeping through the ground on 5/3/2013. They said that they would send someone to check it out.

I checked with the City on this – and thanks for the report! – and received the following information:

City staff are aware of the leak and are monitoring it. “Because it is a small leak and will be difficult to locate, sonic leak detection has been tried. The leak detection equipment has not yet been able to provide a location. The issue with small leaks is they are often not immediately below where the water is coming to the surface.”

The City is trying to avoid tearing up hundreds of feet of street “chasing” a leak. Since this is a small, slow leak, the strategy has been to wait, keep listening and – if possible – get a potential location before digging.

Meanwhile, there are really big problems (hint: Depot and Summit) that I’m happy to see the staff actively fix.
