    LDF, I think the reason cited in an earlier Stopped.Watched. item was that people have dumped them there, not placed there by parks staff. I always root for the heron: [video]

    Yup, there was a small pile of purple aquarium gravel on the edge of the pond a couple of years ago.

    I saw a kingfisher around the pond a couple of times this summer, but it doesn’t seem to have stayed. Maybe the goldfish are too big for it?

    There is family of muskrats living in the pond this year: two young ones and two adults. They’re the reason there are hardly any water lilies or other flowers growing in the pond.
