    I think they’re cicadas. I’ve seen a few lately too.

    Definitely cicada. They’re in full bloom, and there are thousands around. My daughter likes to collect the shells left behind on tree trunks after they molt.

    So that’s what they are. I saw a number of these on the trunks of the Sycamore trees at Virginia Park. I’ll get more educated via a google search, but hope they are not harmful to the trees. Thanks !
