UM: Move-In

The New York Times takes a look at how some universities – including UM – are offering students the option of moving into dorms early, for a price ($75 a day at Michigan). The article notes that UM recently eliminated a requirement that asked students to provide a reason for moving in early. Says Peter Logan, director of communications for housing at UM: “We used to ask for reasons why students wanted to arrive early, and that gets to be pretty subjective and judgmental.” About 2% of undergraduates are moving in early this year.
