Plymouth Road between Jones Drive and the west end of Broadway is closed in both directions, presumably due to flooding. Traffic heading into downtown is being shunted onto Jones Drive, traffic heading the other way is being shunted onto Broadway. [photo] [Ed. note: Credit on the photo goes to Sarah Byers.]

    NOTIFICATION OF PLYMOUTH ROAD CLOSED DUE TO EMBANKMENT FAILURE FROM 5/25/2011 AT 5:00 PM TO 5/26/2011 AT 5:00 PM

    This is a notification of PLYMOUTH ROAD CLOSED DUE TO EMBANKMENT FAILURE Between Barton Drive and Broadway Road

    City of Ann Arbor crews are onsite and have closed Plymouth Road between Barton Drive and Broadway Road while they work to clear both lanes after an embankment
    failure occurred late Wednesday night. This work is expected to continue through morning rush hour and require most of Thursday to complete.

    Description of Work:

    Clearing of Plymouth Road after embankment failure due to heavy rain.

    Temporary Construction Traffic Control Plan:

    For this work to be completed the traffic at Plymouth Road will be detoured from Huron Parkway to Glazier; Glazier to Fuller Road; Fuller Road to Glenn and Glenn
    to Huron Drive.

    It seems to me that the railroad embankment should have had toe drains like those in the Argo Pond embankment.
