You did a much better job of covering Parking Day than the “other online source”. They mostly covered the DDA-sponsored parklet on S. State.
Interesting that the celebration spread to several locations. I went to the one on the Library Lot but was not aware of the others.
This was the Main Street edition of Parking Day from 2010: [link] Apparently, The Chronicle didn’t tag Stopped. Watched. items back then, so it took me forever to find, even though I knew it was there somewhere. Added “parking day” as a tag. Onward.
What is “Parking Day”?

Here’s an idea for doing this any day of the year, without having to get any kind of permission. In Michigan, it’s legal for a bicycle to park in a metered spot. So park your bike, feed the meter, and set up some lawn chairs.
