Looks like a banjo ukulele: [link]
Name of band? Purpose? Longevity? Concert schedule? Twitter handle?
There have been quite a few “bands of street musicians” noted in the downtown and Kerrytown areas during the past few weeks. The others (besides the one in the photo) have also been accompanied by dogs, sometimes as many as six at a time! Their name/purpose/longevity/concert schedule/Twitter handle–have not been readily apparent.
I saw several musicians hitchhiking/panhandling at Zeeb and Jackson the other day. I don’t recognize them in this picture though–could there have been multiple itinerant bands of hippie musicians descending on Ann Arbor the same day?
Two words: Punk Week.
Does ‘punk week’ also explain the amazing bicycles I have been seeing on North Main? I saw a six to seven foot high one today designed for two riders; one rider sat at a typical height and the other rider was about six to seven feet above to road. It looked cool but must be tough to get going.
They also had a flag but traffic was such that I could not read it.
OK, I am now not so amazed with the bike drivers. This afternoon they were driving en masse in both lanes (heading north) blocking cars from passing. One driver stopped to give them a piece of his mind but they refused the offering.
Oh, punk week, duh! When’s the race?
