Workers pouring concrete to anchor bike hoops in front of new municipal center. Depth of tube forms is four feet. That’s also the distance between hoops. Workers speculate the relatively wide spacing could be to accomodate scooters, as they’re increasing in popularity. [photo]

Or maybe they’ll stick an ART bike loop in between each tube so that an adult bike can lock up to the large loop and a child’s bike can use those low-to-the ground ART loops.

I’m wrapping up the report out from the DDA board meeting on Wednesday, which includes this bit, which I offer as an appetizer for that report: “As part of his report out from the transportation committee, John Mouat said that carrot, apple and cherry bike racks were currently getting painted to get them ready for installation at the Farmers Market.”

Yum. There’s a real hunger for more at the Farmers Market. Hope they’re full height.

I’m happy for the wide spacing – some of those in town, like the Neutral Zone’s, seem much too close together.

I’m with Joel — all for wider spacing. Oftentimes you have to try and cram in between two sets of cowcatcher handlebars.
