About a dozen people are poised to jump from the railroad trestle into the pond. One female is heard to exclaim by the many onlookers “(profanity) my feet hit the bottom!” as she popped up to the surface after her jump. [photo]

Gotta love it when the brains are even smaller than the bikinis! Of course, if the bikinis were smaller than the brains, someone would get arrested…

A friend of mine jumped off in the same spot years ago and suffered a life-long back injury.I know kids will be kids, lord knows I did much crazier things than that, but it would be nice to see a warning sign there….and so close to a very strong undertow…

Michael, I found watching the whole thing very frightening. I doubt a warning sign would be heeded. Maybe a permanent measuring stick showing the depth would help? There is also the danger of a fast incoming train. Then you don’t have much choice but to jump. I didn’t editorialize for the Stopped Watched but included the comment about touching bottom for a reason. Maybe next time I should yell something about permanent life-threatening injury? I just don’t know.
