Great inclusion of the dog in the background. He looks like he’s totally sitting in judgement of this situation!

There’s an item on the city council’s Feb. 18, 2014 agenda to approve purchase of a new garbage truck to empty trash cans in city parks. It’s to replace the old one. But the issue you’ve identified relates more to policy (because we have a truck now). The policy of no winter maintenance appears to mean the trash can doesn’t get emptied.

I just called the city and asked: trash pickup in parks does continue during the winter. So if the containers are full, you could call or email the city to let them know. I told them that trash pickup was needed at Olson Park and Barton Nature Area.

I imagine the “winter maintenance” referred to in the sign is snow and ice removal, maybe within the dog park area, around the shelter and picnic tables.
