I am currently visiting my father in Palo Alto. They have 4 carts. Count ‘em 1, 2, 3, 4 – recycling, composting, garbage and and something that isn’t marked.
I can only say this – if its the future, I don’t have room for any more of these carts in some city-designated place. Please don’t let this happen to us.
single stream recycling is great, I’m for it. I want to be able to recycle more as well.
That said, our city goes WAY beyond that in these efforts. We get a mandated cart with a bunch of rules on where that can be stored and a mandated spot for pick up…and some yutz to go patrol all that. That’s the part I don’t want to have. I don’t have room for another cart in the spot the city has decided is ok. I dislike all the threats of fines. Why not just let that part go? Is our city afraid we’ll be awash in recycling?
Oh gawd. This is what I get for refreshing the Chronicle when I should be going to sleep.
And I was just saying yesterday to a friend (who is a paddler) that punning doesn’t work so well on the internet. Thanks.
