I wondered that, too. They were the more unusual dark-leaved variety “forest pansy.” :-(
I saw them as they were readying to leave, sitting in holes and already halfway out of the ground. They still looked pretty. I wanted to ask where they were going, but there was nobody around to ask.
Yes, the trees were given new homes. a few trees will end up at the library branches, too.
