Huron & Fourth Ave.

New barriers on the sidewalk at Huron and N. Fourth Avenue. What’s the deal? Small barriers have been up for what seems like a year, now these. Why any barriers, especially on a downtown street? [photo]

    that’s s. fourth ave.

everyone is waiting for the embassy hotel to do something about the vault underneath that sidewalk so that the city can tear of 4th ave and work on the water main. the hotel’s intransigence (due, no doubt, to its insolvency) has delayed the project for years.

Silly me, I texted the message after I crossed Huron to S Fourth.

The sidewalk appears to have no tripping hazards. It’s almost artful, there being no standard expansion joints.

As Peter notes, there are complications due to the cost of the repairs.
