I was voter 441 at 5-3 at about 2 p.m. with no wait. As I voted, a line about eight people long formed. I was told at 5-3 that I “need” to show picture ID. I asked what to do of I didn’t have it, they showed affidavit to sign. Yesterday, AAPS sent email to all employees saying, “You will be asked for picture ID, make sure you have it.”

I showed them my Veteran’s ID Card. It has a picture, which effectively makes it Federal ID and superior to State ID by law. They didn’t know what to do with it. They’d been swiping people’s drivers license on a card reader. I’m not sure how I feel about this voter ID stuff. Seems to me that they can track how you vote by it. Regardless of the ways they try to show that they’ve taken steps not to.

Just like we used to have to apply for a social security card when we turned 16, it was never supposed to be used as ID. Now, it’s issued at birth and used regularly as a federal ID number.

What is this world coming to?

I Agree with “Bear.” He Honorably served in the military (you are not issued a Veterans picture ID from the government unless you served Honorably). Why does the City of Ann Arbor contact SOS after I affix my signature to the Request for Ballot and Display my Photo ID? What if there was an Arrest Warrant out for me for unpaid parking tickets? Would the Election Official phone 911 to have me arrested? Far fetched one might opine, but, for some potential voters, this protocol could chill their desire to go to the polls to exercise their Constitutional franchise!!! Does the City of AA want to be on the wrong end of an ACLU lawsuit?
