This morning, as is my habit, I went to the Peoples’ Food Co-op early enough to help them open their door at 8:00 AM. As I was putting some money in the meter, a gentleman called to me from across the street asking me if I needed some more change. I thanked him and said, “No.”

The gentleman crossed the street to the west side where I stood and said, “That’s OK. Maybe you will remember me in the middle of the month when I’m short of cash.”

This must be one of the most creative pan-handlers in Ann Arbor and that’s saying a lot! We have to salute this guy for saving his dignity.
